Bertice Berry discovered, much to her surprise, that she could sew following a head injury. Without any experience or training, she began sewing for herself and others, eventually getting rid of anything in her wardrobe that she had not made herself. She has sewn coats for the homeless with a heart in each one that reminds the wearer that they matter. During the pandemic, she made countless face masks to give away. Bertice didn’t just get back to normal, she got “back to better,” a message that resonates with all of us post-COVID.

Originally from Wilmington, Delaware, Bertice earned a Ph.D. in sociology at the age of 26. The former host and co-executive producer of her own nationally syndicated talk show, “The Bertice Berry Show,” she has also been featured on “The Oprah Winfrey Show,” “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno,” and “20/20.” She is a best-selling author.
