Kareem McMichael is an award-winning filmmaker, writer, and media professional with over a decade of experience in visual storytelling and multimedia content. As the founder of Karmac Productions, he has earned recognition for his documentary and short film work, including the acclaimed titles Best Friends and MLK JR. BLVD, which has been featured in over 10 film festivals. A native of Macon, Georgia, McMichael holds a B.F.A. in Mass Communications from Savannah State University, where he currently serves as the advisor for the Tiger’s Roar student newspaper. With a love for writing and sharing stories McMichael went from writing for Connect Savannah to producing his own blog Things Around Town Savannah.

 In addition to his academic roles, he is the director of the two-day media conference the Southern Regional Press Institute. Passionate about film, arts, and culture, McMichael serves on the Board of Governors for the Southeast chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences and has served appointments with the Savannah Film Commission and the Savannah Cultural Affairs and Art Commission. Recognized as a 2024 Georgia Trend “40 Under 40” honoree, he remains committed to mentoring future media professionals and advocating for the arts.
